Winter Activites

Everyone knows that the Rocky Mountains of Colorado truly are a Winter Wonderland. We have plenty of powder to enjoy on a backcountry ski or splitboard tour and the views are always amazing. This can be a casual day meadow hopping through the trees or get into some steeper, more challenging terrain.

Backcountry Ski/Splitboard

We have access to a variety of zones within the massive Sawatch mountain range which allows us to cater to a wide range of abilities. Shorter pitches with gladed trees are great for first timers and intermediate shredders who just want a casual day of powder turns. Steeper alpine bowls provide a high mountain experience for advanced riders. Guide will determine actual route based on ability and snow/weather conditions. All routes base out of Monarch Pass, Independence Pass, and Fremont Pass.

The natural snow surface can create challenging conditions, even on mellow terrain. So all participants should be confident navigating black diamond slopes at a ski area.

  • Time: Full day trips only. All courses meet at 8:30 am for a weather briefing before departure.
  • Location: We prefer to meet at our Buena Vista outpost, but can arrange alternative meetup locations if preferred.
  • Price: $475/private. $600/ for 2 person. $225/person for group of 3 or more
  • Equipment: Skis and splitboards provided by our friends at Weston Backcountry. Boots and personal clothing not provided. Standard alpine ski/snowboard boots will be fine.
  • Lunch NOT included

Monarch Ridge Classic

The Monarch Ridge spans close to a mile in length and is fully gladed terrain that has sections commonly referred to as ‘Perfect Trees.’ This trip uses one quick shuttle so that participants can get more laps in with less uphill effort and hopefully explore the entire ridgeline! We like to call it ‘boater style backcountry.’ Actual number of laps will be determined by the participants' abilities and desires. Hot food and beverages provided.
