Try paddling the Salida Town Run on a Stand Up Paddleboard. This section of the Arkansas River has some relaxing stretches and then tests your balance as you paddle through some Class II/II+ rapids. No experience necessary, but participants must be in good shape, ready for a challenge, and comfortable swimming in whitewater.
Enjoy a relaxing paddle around Cottonwood Lake- an incredibly scenic, high mountain lake with Mount Princeton in the background. This is a great location to learn some basics of SUP strokes and balance before we head out on a short tour. Explore wooded coves and get out for a short walk around. This trip leaves early so that we can finish up before the afternoon winds pick up.
Catch a wave in Colorado! Learn how to get rad on the river by paddling into a standing river wave. We will cover some basic river swimming techniques, study the hydrology of the wave, and finally learn to break the eddyline and carve some turns. Such an awesome way to spend a summer day!
